Rich and buttery… This final product surprised us all. Made from poplar wood, the true original Reché Rocker, is currently on display for sale at Galerie Belle Ame (www.galeriebelleame.com) in downtown Eagle.
Golden and figured... This rocker resides in the Reché residence where Tavis’s wife Brooke has enjoyed rocking their two children. It, along with other rockers in production, travels to art shows attended by Tavis.
From the scrap pile… The maple wood selected for the seat of this rocker literally came from the scrap bin of the suppler. Often times people want straight-grained wood with no variation in color, however Tavis loves to use the so called ‘flawed’ wood to ad interest to his work. While applying the finish we discovered the natural stain in the wood looked as though it was dripping from the seat. We were very pleased. This rocker was purchased by a pilot from California who actually met Sam Maloof and chose to buy a Reché Rocker when he found them online.
A successful experiment… Tavis had never worked with sapele before, but decided to give it a shot with a rocker. A favorite among Reché Rocker fans, the sapele rocker with tiger maple backslats was selected to reside in a designer home in the Jackson Hole parade of homes. Later, this rocker was purchased by a local restaurant owner/chef for his wife who was expecting their first child.
